A man was shot and killed at Martins Road, Pinelands, St Michael on Friday morning, prompting a major police investigation.
According to Police Public Affairs and Communications Officer Inspector Ryan Brathwaite, officers responded to reports of a shooting at about 9:40 a.m. after a woman contacted the Operations Control Room indicating that a man had been shot at the location.
Police and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene.
“Personnel from the Barbados Ambulance Service, comprising one doctor and two EMTs, examined the body of that male and found no signs of life,” Brathwaite said told reporters.
He added that a police medical officer subsequently visited the scene and officially pronounced the man dead.
“Investigations are at a delicate stage at this time. Our forensic team is currently on the scene and the area has been secured,” Brathwaite said.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist investigators to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, Police Emergency at 211, or District ‘A’ Police Station at 430-7242.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
