Son Remanded to Psychiatric Hospital After Assaulting Mother

He deliberately and repeatedly interfered with his mother’s washing machine, then threatened and hit her.

Following Keshon Andre Marshall’s confession that he assaulted Keisha Hoyte and caused her actual bodily harm on June 11, he was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital for evaluation.

Marshall, 22, of no fixed place of abode, pleaded guilty before acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick. He was ordered to return to court on July 8.

The District “A” Magistrates’ Court No. 1 heard from the prosecutor, Sergeant Gazelda Knights, that Hoyte woke up and saw her son Marshall – who does not live there – moving around her house. He began washing clothes in the washing machine, and all the while she was hearing strange noises coming from it.

When she questioned him about it, Marshall repeatedly opened and closed the safety lock on the machine. He was also repeatedly opening and slamming the machine door and turning the appliance on and off. He also told his mother that he did not care whether or not he damaged it.

At one stage, he took a wet pants out of the machine and threw it at his mother, who left to report the matter to the District “A” Police Station.

Officers returned with her to the house and ordered Marshall to leave the property, but he swore at them.

When the complainant went upstairs to speak to someone after the officers had left, Marshall followed her, cursing and demanding she hand over a chain she had, which he claimed was his.

He threatened to hit her with two big rocks and when she took out her phone to call the police, he rushed toward her and punched her on the right side of the face, causing her to hit her head on the wall. (SD)
