Man Ordered to Pay Compensation for Assaulting Police Officer in Barbados Court
Convicted man Daniel Oliver White ordered to pay $2,500 compensation for assaulting a police officer by biting him in court. Faces 90 days in prison if payment not made by December 30.

Convicted man Daniel Oliver White who assaulted a police officer by biting him inside the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court was ordered to pay $2 500 in compensation.
If the 58-year-old of Seale Land, Martinique Road, Government Hill does not pay the amount by December 30, he will spend 90 days in prison.
Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes handed down the sentence on Tuesday on the convicted man for assaulting PC Larry Babb, causing harm, on July 22.
The court heard that White, having been remanded by the chief magistrate, refused to leave the dock when ordered to do so. As PC Babb assisted in removing him, White bit him on the left hand. He was then charged.
When told by Chief Magistrate Weekes that he was sentenced to pay compensation, White, who already has convictions to his name replied: “That’s no problem, Sir.”
He was also ordered to pay $100 in compensation for breaking a window belonging to Shawn Straker on July 20, if he wants to avoid 30 days in jail.
Another charge of causing serious bodily harm to Randa White, with intent to maim, disfigure and disable her on March 29 was dismissed after the complainant told the court: “I came to say that I am dropping the charges against the accused.”
