September 27, 2024
Akeem Ricardo Griffith sentenced to 24 months in jail for escaping police custody without force. With remand credit, he will serve 13 months. 40th conviction; found guilty by jury.
For escaping police custody without the use of force almost two years ago, Akeem Ricardo Griffith was sentenced to 24 months in jail – the maximum sentence.
However, the 11 months he spent on remand were credited to him, so he will only serve an additional 13 months.
Griffith, 33, of Montrose, Silver Hill, Christ Church, was found guilty by a jury earlier this year, in the process racking up his 40th conviction.
He had denied that on December 4, 2022, being a person in lawful custody having been arrested for the offence of robbery, he escaped without the use of force. Griffith represented himself, while Principal State Counsel Joyann Catwell prosecuted. (SD)
