A public service vehicle (PSV) operator who refused to give a policeman his name and address, cursed the officer and walked away, will know what route his punishment will take when he returns to court next month.
Nicholas Shamar Sobers, 27, of Hopewell, St Thomas, will be on remand at Dodds Prison until his December 16 court date.
Sobers admitted to the District “A” Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday that he failed to display his badge while being a conductor on a PSV, after being asked to do so by a member of the Barbados Police Service; did not wear his badge while on duty in a manner where it could easily be seen, and used abusive language to Constable Mac-Riley Snagg by telling him: “You is a bare ****ing idiot, I don’t give a **** ’bout you. You can’t ***hole talk to me. I ain’t want to talk to you. I ain’t want to hear you,” all on November 19. Constable Cindy Greaves told Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes that Snagg stopped the vehicle to speak to the driver when Sobers, the conductor, started getting aggressive and making remarks to the policeman.
