In a shocking turn of events, the general council of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) has taken the decision to expel party president Dr Ronnie Yearwood and general secretary Steve Blackett, a well-placed source revealed.
It is understood that the general council met via Zoom tonight and the decision was taken by a majority vote. Neither Blackett nor Yearwood was present for the hearing.
However, the source told The Nation that both the now former president and general secretary were invited in writing on three previous occasions, but did not appear.
In the most recent correspondence, they were advised that the matter would be adjudicated in their absence.
More details to come. This is a developing story. (CLM)
