Export Barbados and Government of India Partnership to Drive Small Business Expansion, Says Minister of State
Export Barbados has partnered with the government of India to expand the small business sector, with a focus on generating employment and transferring knowledge and skills in packaging and design. The project will be sustained for five years. Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Business Development, Sandra Husbands, emphasized the importance of tackling global technological changes and narrowing the digital divide. The government is implementing various initiatives to foster innovation and create opportunities for businesses, including the establishment of an International Food Science Centre and a Life Sciences Park. Despite unfavorable global developments, Barbados has shown resilience, with 3.9% growth in economic activity for the first half of the year. The government is focused on economic diversification, competitiveness, and reducing barriers to growth and development. Continued cooperation and collaboration are crucial for improving the business environment.
