International manufacturing challenges are contributing to a local medication shortage.
However, acting director of the Barbados Drug Service, Delores Mascoll, is urging patients, especially diabetics, not to panic.
While there is a scarce supply of Humulin 70/30 on island, there is no shortage of any therapeutic class of insulin on the Barbados National Drug Formulary, she maintained.
“Right now we are experiencing some serious challenges with drug shortages. Many of these challenges aren’t just with generic products, but quite a few of them are with branded products and this is not normal.
