Hurricane Beryl Warning Lifted in Barbados as Island Braces for Lingering Winds and Showers: Stay Vigilant

Authorities have issued the “all clear” as the hurricane warning for Hurricane Beryl has been lifted.

As of 2 pm today, the Hurricane Warning for Barbados has been officially discontinued.

However, the island is not yet out of danger. While the direct danger from the storm has diminished, residents are advised to remain cautious as intermittent showers and gusty winds ranging from 45 to 65 km/h (28 to 40 mph), with even higher gusts, are expected to persist throughout the afternoon.

In light of this, a Wind Advisory has been issued and will remain in effect until 6 pm.

Residents of Barbados are urged to stay vigilant as these strong winds may cause unsecured objects, such as inflatable structures, tents, and garbage cans, to tumble and roll.

It is essential to continue following the guidance provided by the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and other official sources.

A Wind Advisory is typically issued when sustained winds of 25 to 33 knots (47 to 61 km/h) are either affecting or forecasted to affect the area within 48 hours. In this specific instance, the advisory is in place for the next six hours due to the immediate threat posed by Beryl’s lingering winds.

As Beryl advances into the Eastern Caribbean Sea, the public is encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
