Matthew Ricardo Wiltshire of Rogers Road, Back Ivy, St Michael, has admitted to possessing firearms and ammunition without valid licenses. He awaits sentencing on March 14.

The Barbados Police Service identifies the two men shot and killed at Three Houses Plantation as Jamel Shamar Harewood, 36, and Omar Jonathan Taitt, 41, both from Blades Hill #2, St Philip. The incident occurred after an altercation between the owner of the leased yam field and the men who were harvesting his crops.

In a highly-publicized case, a Japanese man, Shinji Aoba, has been sentenced to death for an arson attack at a Kyoto animation studio that killed 36 people and injured many others. Aoba pleaded guilty to the attack, but his plea of "mental incompetence" was rejected by the judge. Prosecutors argued that Aoba was motivated by a belief that his work had been stolen. The incident shocked the anime world and sparked national mourning in Japan.
