Barbados Takes Home 13 Medals at Caribbean Development Championships 2023

Barbados achieved impressive results at the Caribbean Development Championships 2023, securing a total of 13 medals which included 3 gold, 6 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
Barbados have won 13 medals at the Caribbean Development Championships 2023 which concluded on Sunday, October 1 in Trinidad & Tobago.
Competing at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, the group of 17 archers captured three gold medals, six silvers and four bronze medals having headed to Tobago prior to the competition which began on September 29.
In the Recurve Senior Men category, Jordan Javier defeated fellow Barbadian R-James Holder 6-4 in the final to win the gold medal. In that same category, Jonathan Griffith placed fifth after losing out to eventual winner Jordan 4-6 in the quarter-final.
Kirk Alwyn came out victorious in the Recurve Developmental Senior Men category, comprehensively beating Trinidadians Ramsumair Parasan and Meyer Kurt 6-0 in the semi-final and final, respectively to secure the crown. Nikeem Boyce was sixth in this category, winning 7-3 over Carrouthar Kemmor from Jamaica in the Round of Sixteen before losing to Alwyn 6-2 in the quarter-final.
Gale Cole was the last of the Barbadians to win a gold medal when he breezed past Lall Teemahall from Guyana 6-0 in the final of the Barebow Beginner Senior Men category. It was an easy competition for him as Cole beat Trinidadian Beharry Keith 6-0 in the quarter-final and then Guyana’s Dookie Richard 7-1 in the semi-final.
Paon Alezandor came second in the Recurve Developmental Under-21 Men when he suffered a 6-0 defeat to local boy Kian Roopnarine. Fellow Barbadian Zephan Brathwaite placed third in this category.
In the Recurve Developmental Under-18 and Under-15 Women category, Nurah Ollivierre-Haqq finished in second place as she lost out to Anthurium Lewis 6-0 in the final having beaten Shayan Ballah 6-0 in the semi-final to set up the final against the Trinidadian.
Gail Judd won bronze in the Recurve Beginner Senior Women category when she beat Calida Charles from Trinidad 6-0 in the bronze medal match. Shane Riley also finished third in his Recurve Beginner Senior Men’s bronze play off, winning 6-2 over St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Ian Gibson. Adam Tryhane came seventh in the same category after he lost his quarter-final clash with finalist Gibson 6-0.
