Revered sports journalist and former Nation editor Sam Wilkinson has passed away at the age of 82.
Wilkinson died this morning at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital following a brief illness.
Wilkinson, was known for his excellent broadcast skills and expert commentary on cricket.
He was survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy and their two children Samantha and sports broadcaster Barry.
