Parliamentarians, members of the Judiciary and members of the Barbados Police Service came out in their numbers yesterday to pay final respects to former Ombudsman, Valton Bend, at the
St Philip-the-Less Anglican Church at Boscobel, St Peter.
Bend, who died two weeks ago at the age of 74, was fondly remembered for his love of the legal profession and his long years of service as a Crown Counsel and a Magistrate before he was appointed as Barbados’ Ombudsman.
He was eulogised as a “quiet and compassionate” person who would often offer good advice particularly to young men.
His son Ayo who resides in Canada, highlighted the good relationship he had with his father pointing out “My dad was my rock. He always had my back.”
