Barbados Meteorological Services Monitoring Disturbed Weather in Far Eastern Atlantic, Potential for Tropical Depression Development
September 4, 2023
The Barbados Meteorological Services is monitoring an area of disturbed weather in the Eastern Atlantic, which may develop into a tropical depression later this week. Marine operators should stay updated.
The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is continuing to monitor an area of disturbed weather located in the far Eastern Atlantic. Over the last 24 hours, the system became better organized and environmental conditions appear to be conducive for the development of this system into a tropical depression around mid-week.
Model guidance has been consistent in tracking the system to pass north of Barbados by Friday night (8th September 2023) into Saturday morning. As a result of this current projection, the BMS still does not expect any watches or warnings to be issued for Barbados during its passage north of the island. However temperatures on Friday 8th September 2023 and into the weekend could spike as we have experienced within recent weeks.
Marine operators that venture well east and north of Barbados should closely monitor the progress of this system over the next few days.
The next update will be issued at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 5.
