Hurricane Lee Remains Powerful Category 4 in Atlantic, No Threat to Barbados

Hurricane Lee, a powerful Category 4 storm, continues to move west-northwestward in the Atlantic. No direct impact on Barbados is expected, but localized showers and warm conditions may occur.
Hurricane Lee remains a powerful and dangerous Category 4 hurricane in the Atlantic but poses no threat to Barbados.
In a weather information statement issued today, the Barbados Meteorological Services said Hurricane Lee was located near 18.2N 54.5W and was moving west-northwestward at 13 miles-per-hour at 11 a.m. The minimum central pressure is 942 mb with maximum sustained winds of 155 miles-per-hour.
“Guidance remains consistent in tracking the system well north of the Eastern Caribbean today into Saturday. Therefore, no direct impacts from Lee are expected across Barbados. However, light wind speeds and warm conditions are expected today across the island which may trigger some localized shower activity across eastern districts this afternoon.
The BMS has also advised the public to continue to expect hot and uncomfortable days.
