Undocumented Jamaican nationals involved in a court case for unlawful wounding were handed over to Immigration officials after fines and compensation were imposed by the Magistrate.
Two undocumented Jamaican nationals – one, convicted of unlawful and malicious wounding, and the other, the complainant – were handed over to Immigration officials when they returned to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Earlier this week, Romane Antonio Burton, 27, pleaded guilty before Acting Magistrate Bernadeth John to committing the offence against his girlfriend Tashaya Smith, on April 4.
On their second appearance, Magistrate John imposed a $3 000 fine on Burton and $1 500 compensation or the alternative of six months in prison. Both the amounts were paid before the two were taken away by Immigration officers.
